I’m a registered Sport and Exercise Nutrition Consultant specializing in endurance sports, with a passionate interest in all areas of nutrition and its impacts on health, performance, and training.

My expertise as a practitioner is backed up by a solid foundation of academic qualifications. I have a 1st Class Honours Degree in Sports Science from Bangor University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Sports Nutrition from the International Olympic Committee Diploma. The diploma is awarded by the IOC Medical Commission and is a world-renowned, comprehensive program taught by the world’s leading sports nutrition researchers and elite practitioners. I also have an MSc in Sports Nutrition (with distinction), which I completed as part of the Physiology, Exercise, Nutrition Research Group at the University of Stirling, completing a research study investigating the effects of carbohydrate supplementation on exercise metabolism and endurance performance.

I developed a passion for sports nutrition during my undergraduate degree. As an aspiring mountain bike racer, I was fascinated by how nutrition could impact training and performance. Applying the strategies I learned through studies to my own training and competition and seeing firsthand the impact they had sparked my interest in this fascinating and emerging field of sports science.

After finishing my degree I spent the next 6 years working for a leading UK based Fitness Consultancy & Sports Nutrition brand, as a Sports Nutritionist & Exercise Physiologist. The role gave me extensive experience helping an array of athletes with their training, fuelling and recovery.

I've was also an invited speaker to Rapha CC, Run Coed Y Brenin and Total Triathlon Training, providing educational topics around training and competition nutrition strategies. As the product researcher for the brand, I also got a unique insight into how the supplement industry operates and how the claims made by many manufacturers simply don’t match up to the scientific evidence.

Since completing my MSc in 2017 I've worked one to one with an array of athletes, alongside working in a role as sports nutritionist for cycle coaching company Rowe & King.  I am also the head coach at Fuel The Ride Academy, an online nutrition program for cycle sport athletes.

Alongside nutrition, I have a passion for Mountain Biking. I’ve raced at an Elite Level in the Cross Country and Gravity Enduro disciplines of the sport and been fortunate to have been part of the TORQ Performance Mountain Bike Team and Whyte Bikes Gravity Enduro Teams.

I’ve raced an array of events from minutes to hours long, and been part of winning teams in 12 hour relay events. This experience as an athlete has given me a first hand experience and appreciation of the challenges faced by athletes, as well as the impact that performance nutrition can have on an athlete's health, body composition, performance and training.

When I'm not busy with my consultancy, you'll find me in the kitchen, exploring the trails and roads on my doorstep in Hope Valley in the Peak District or getting my head into the latest research papers.
